Donovans

Donovans is named after Mr Tom Donovan whose claim to fame was not connected to the small town.  Tom was the man who shot the wolf-like animal, later referred to as the Tantanoola Tiger and which is on show in the Tantanoola Hotel.  Tom was a very good fisherman.  He built a home in the side of the hill, which formed the bank of the Glenelg River. He owned land in the area now known as Donovans.

It has always been a good fishing spot with good access to the river.  Donovans is now a quiet town, particularly during winter, with many very neat homes with lovely gardens, located right on the waterfront of the Glenelg River.
